Located at the very center of Zaria Court, the Sports Bar forms a social and spatial nucleus within this new urban landscape in Kigali. Opened in June 2025 as part of the wider Zaria Court development—a place where community, sport, culture, and hospitality converge—the bar is where spectatorship meets gathering, and leisure becomes public ritual.
The architecture begins with a found form: an octagonal pavilion from the 1970s, once built for conference banquets and civic meetings. This inherited structure has been carefully reimagined—not erased, but expanded. Its geometry remains, now recalibrated for informal life and collective rhythm.
Around it, a wide canopy unfurls—a bold cantilevered gesture that both amplifies and shelters. It extends the building’s reach into the Court, offering shade, scale, and atmosphere. The canopy turns the bar inside out, creating a threshold between game and crowd, screen and street.
Situated at the intersection of the hotel, retail, and sports wings of the development, the Sports Bar is more than a venue—it is a fulcrum of activity. A place to watch, to meet, to rest. A structure that looks back while leaning forward. Here, sport becomes ceremony, and architecture becomes audience.
