Set between Kigali’s new 50,000-seat Amahoro Stadium and the vibrant activity of Zaria Court, the retail quarter occupies a threshold—bridging city-scale spectacle with the daily rhythms of community life. It opened in June 2025 as part of the larger Zaria Court development, where sport, culture, hospitality, and public space are folded into a new urban narrative.
Here, architecture is agile and assembled. A constellation of 20-foot and 40-foot repurposed shipping containers forms the retail spine—stacked, staggered, and reoriented to create clarity and flow. These modular volumes house a dynamic mix of food, drink, and informal retail, each offering a distinct but connected experience.
The composition is intentional: the containers rise at the edge of the Court to form a porous gateway—at once an entrance, a beacon, and a frame. Their rooftops are activated as viewing decks, transforming commercial infrastructure into public observatories. From these elevated platforms, visitors can take in the full energy of Zaria Court—its performances, games, gatherings.
More than a marketplace, Zaria Court Retail is a scaffold for urban life. Lightweight, flexible, and civic, it invites participation while framing the pulse of a new Kigali.
