SUMMARY:PAB 2026 – Pan-African Biennale
DESCRIPTION:The Pan-African Biennale (PAB) 2026 is the first continental biennale dedicated to the built environment, architecture, and spatial practices in Africa. It is a platform conceived and led from the African continent, with the aim of bringing together voices from all 54 African countries and its diaspora.\nCurator and Organization\n· Curator: Omar Degan (Somali-Italian architect, founder of DO Architecture Group).\n· The biennale is supported by the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) and its president, George A. Ndege.\n· It is conceived not only as an event, but as a long-term movement. It is planned to rotate every two years across different countries on the continent.\nMain Objectives\n· To reclaim the center of the global architectural discourse from African perspectives.\n· To highlight the traditions, designs, culture, and collective memory of the continent.\n· To address issues such as colonization, dispossession, infrastructural inequality, climate change, and historical and contemporary strategies of resilience and adaptation.\n· To foster exchange, collective action, and the reimagination of the built environment “from Africa, for the world.”\nIn summary, PAB 2026 represents a historic milestone: the first pan-African architecture platform that seeks to decolonize the narrative about the continent and place African voices, knowledge, and practices at the center of the global debate on the future of cities and inhabited space. It is both an event and the beginning of a continental movement.\n
